Breast size and shape are important, so be honest and open about your expectations when talking with your surgeon. Implant type and size will be determined not just on your desired increase in size but more importantly on your breast anatomy, skin elasticity and body type.
Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water. They can be filled with varying amounts of saline which can affect the shape, firmness and feel of the breast. Should the implant shell leak, a saline implant will collapse and the saline will be absorbed and naturally expelled by the body.
Silicone implants are filled with an elastic gel. The gel feels and moves much like natural breast tissue. If the implant leaks, the gel may remain within the implant shell, or may escape into the breast implant pocket.

Herbert Chavez, a 35-year old Filipino pageant trainer, has since 1995 undergone a whole host of surgeries to make him more closely resemble the Man of Steel. According to a RealSelf.com translation of a news report out of the Philippines, he has admitted to a nose job, chin augmentation — for that iconic cleft, silicone lip injections and, of course, thigh implants. The news report speculates that he has Body Dysmorphic Disorder, which makes him compulsively undergo plastic surgery. Whether or not that’s true, he is clearly obsessed with the man of steel; a peek inside his home reveals a shrine to the hero, with everything from bedding to wall decorations to actual, larger than life statues of the hero taking up an entire room.

The transumbilical breast augmentation technique, or TUBA, is unique in allowing the Dr. David Kim to insert the implants through a small incision in the navel rather than in the underside of the breast, under the arm or around the nipple. Currently, only saline implants can be placed using the TUBA technique. The implants are still deflated when inserted; they are moved into position under the muscle behind the breasts, and then filled with saline (salt water solution) to the predetermined volume.

All incisions can be used successfully for a breast augmentation. Which incision is best for you will depend on your particular anatomy combined with your preference in location as well as the comfort level of your surgeon for each particular procedure. Dr. Kim has performed hundreds of procedures using all the different incisions so it will come down to your desires and what will be best for you based on your anatomy.

Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures and is commonly in the top three of all cosmetic surgeries. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.

If you’re considering rhinoplasty, this information will give you a basic understanding of the procedure-when it can help, how it’s performed, and what results you can expect. I am from out of town and I traveled in from North Carolina to Beverly Hills California to have Dr. David Kim perform my breast augmentation. A breast lift is not a simple operation, but it’s normally safe when performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there is always a possibility of complications or a reaction to the anesthesia. Bleeding and infection following a breast lift are uncommon, but they can cause scars to widen. You can reduce your risks by closely following Dr. Kim’s advice both before and after surgery.
Mastopexy does leave noticeable, permanent scars, although they’ll be covered by most bras or bathing suits. (Poor healing and wider scars are more common in smokers.) The procedure can also leave you with unevenly positioned nipples, or a permanent loss of feeling in your nipples or breasts.
Mastopexy usually takes one and a half to three and a half hours. Techniques vary, but the most common procedure involves an anchor-shaped incision following the natural contour of the breast. The incision outlines the area from which breast skin will be removed and defines the new location for the nipple. When the excess skin has been removed, the nipple and areola are moved to the higher position. The skin surrounding the areola is then brought down and together to reshape the breast. Stitches are usually located around the areola, in a vertical line extending downwards from the nipple area, and along the lower crease of the breast.
Some patients, especially those with relatively small breasts and minimal sagging, may be candidates for modified procedures requiring less extensive incisions. One such procedure is the “doughnut (or concentric) mastopexy,” in which circular incisions are made around the areola, and a doughnut-shaped area of skin is removed. This is also known as a circumareolar lift.
If you’re having an implant inserted along with your breast lift, it will be placed in a pocket directly under the breast tissue, or deeper, under the muscle of the chest wall.
